About Us

Kaplan's Fabrics is a traditional store where guests are given customer service and personal attention by the experienced staff.  Local, as well as out of town customers are drawn to the Plaza location in search of unique fashion fabrics.  Because of the diminishing luxury fabric market throughout the nation, Kaplan's Fabrics also works with clients internationally in their fabric pursuits.

Fabrics for every need can be found here.  Kaplan's carries better and unusual fabrics for clothing and decorating from all corners of the world.  For example; imported linens, embroideries, cottons, woolens, silks, laces, upholstery and drapery.  Designer goods are a specialty as well; including Missoni, Versace, Armani, Calvin Klein, Roberto Cavalli, and Gucci just to name a few.  Because Kaplan's caters to all budgets, casual cottons and affordable polyesters are also kept in stock.  Drop by and spend time browsing the extensive selection or give Kaplan's a call during regular hours.

 History

From fine wools to French lace, Kaplan's Fabrics has been a staple on Kansas City's Country Club Plaza for 65 years.  Abe Kaplan founded Kaplan's Fabrics in 1946, not knowing Kaplan's would come to be the oldest store on the Plaza.  Mr. Kaplan was only interested in the finest quality materials for the Kansas City area.

In 1978, Abe Kaplan sold the store to Alan Rubin who is still the owner today.
